Before bank accounts and currencies, our ancestors gathered what the Earth provided.
Stones, shells, fossils and metals were collected, strung to be worn and carried on journeys.
Jewellery then, a tradable commodity.
My name is Amber.
My Mum once found a raw, honeyed gemstone on the shores of the Norfolk coast. This is how she named me – her first daughter.
I was raised carrying knowledge that connects all women through time, jewellery is a currency we wear.
This is the essence that has carried my mother & I on our own meandering journeys, trading jewellery as we go.
The journeys are long and full of stories, too many to tell here. One day I’ll write them.
For now, I’ll summarise it with this; love, art, quest and a fascination with understanding human drives, has led us to an expansive community of likeminded people. People like you, with a passion for beautiful adornment, and the stories it communicates.
During the Covid 19 Pandemic, I, living in Marrakech, and Mum, in Norfolk, looked for ways the worldwide jewellery community could continue connecting. The Virtual Souk was our answer to imposed barriers. It serves as a hub for archeologists, artists, anthropologists and accumulators to connect and trade jewellery from everywhere. For five years, The Virtual Souk has hosted two events per week on Facebook, where trusted traders bring their collections to the screens of a worldwide audience.
Souk Too was born from The Virtual Souk. It is a marketplace suited to established jewellery traders, and to individuals who wish to offer a few items from their personal collections, to a knowledgeable and passionate community.
