From the Souss region of Morocco. This is a bridal dress.
The kaftan has a good weight to it, close to cotton denim.
The fabric is non-synthetic. I believe it is a cotton and wool blend.
The dye is very uniform, and I suspect it is synthetic, not plant dye.
The embroidery is both silk and metallic. The embroidery around the neckline as well as the tassels is silk, which appear to be dyed with plant dyes.
Embroidery decoration is hand stitched, while the seams are machine stitched.
It is a drop shoulder shape and very loose fitting. Very flattering fit.
